Methodology
Definitions, calculations and reporting rules used by NativeRadar
Scope
What NativeRadar measures
NativeRadar tracks PR/native placements from monitored publishers and classifies them into advertiser, brand, campaign/copy name, publisher, sentiment and taxonomy dimensions.
Client-facing reports should use reportable placements only: auto-accepted and manually reviewed records with a resolved advertiser.
Taxonomy
Sector / Subcategory / Category
Sector is the broad market area. Subcategory is the middle layer. Category is the specific product/service classification used for reporting.
Example: Beverages → Coffee → Espresso Coffee. Reports should avoid calling the broad sector a “category”.
Value
Estimated PR value
Estimated value is calculated from the configured publisher cost per article. It is not spend booked in media buying systems; it is a comparable PR/native value estimate.
KM is the base value. EUR is calculated using the dashboard conversion rate.
Sentiment
Sentiment and message quality
Sentiment summarizes article tone as positive, neutral or negative. Cost per positive placement is estimated value divided by positive reportable placements.
Negative placements should be reviewed before client reporting because they may represent message risk or crisis context.
Objects
Advertiser / Brand / Campaign
Advertiser is the commercial/legal entity. Brand is the promoted brand. Campaign or copy name is the repeated message/storyline.
Advertiser reports answer “who is active”; brand/campaign reports answer “what is being promoted”.
Quality
Clean vs reportable with readiness note
Reportable records can still carry warnings when confidence, taxonomy or supporting evidence is weaker. These are valid for analyst review but should be checked before final client output.
Clean records are high-confidence or manually reviewed. Warning records are useful but require attention.
Internal
Data Quality queues
Data Quality groups operational issues such as missing taxonomy, missing screenshots, dictionary gaps and records needing analyst attention.
This section is internal and hidden in Client mode.
Internal
Dictionary and mappings
The dictionary controls advertiser and brand normalization. Suspicious or missing mappings should be corrected before relying on category or advertiser reporting.
This section is internal and hidden in Client mode.

CSV/PDF-ready HTML works, but client workflow will benefit from office files.
Medium
User roles
Client/Internal mode is UI-level; role-based permission would harden it.

Ad-hoc Ingest
Manually queue a PR URL when the scraper missed it. If the scraper listener is running, items process within ~10 seconds; otherwise at the next scheduled scan.
⚙ Local trigger setup (optional — for instant HTTP processing)
You don't need this. The scraper's listener also polls the queue every 10 seconds, so any URL you queue here gets processed within seconds even without the HTTP token. Set it up only if your browser allows cross-origin localhost calls (some do, many don't due to Chrome's Private Network Access enforcement).
Setup steps (one-time, on the scraper machine):
Generate a token: node -e "console.log(require('crypto').randomBytes(32).toString('hex'))"
Set env var: set NR_TRIGGER_TOKEN=<the token>
Run: node index.js --listen
